• Unnecessary Suffering

Background-Pics“The seed of suffering in you may be strong, but don’t wait until you have no more suffering before allowing yourself to be happy.”

I recently saw this quote and it struck a chord with me. Most people are especially resilant and can handle a lot. But how much do you actually NEED to handle and how much is unnecessary suffering? Do you really need to close yourself off to potential happiness because you’re so busy waiting out the suffering to “see how it goes?”

I guess the way I see it is we have control over whether or not we are happy. Its all about a. Perspective and b. Knowing when to let something go.

There’s always a different way to look at the things that happen in your life, no matter how miserable it seems. This doesn’t mean to not allow yourself to feel the pain, just don’t dwell in it. This goes along with knowing when to let something go. “What you resist persist” my mom always says, so if you just let things happen and try not to stress so much you will gradually see the happiness start to creep in. Besides, stressing never made anything happen anyway, it just adds to the unnecessary suffering.

When you just wait to the point where you just can’t take it anymore, you inadvertently are not taking control over you life. No one intentionally makes themselves suffer but if you’re unhappy with something you can change then why don’t you change it? And if you can’t change it, you always have the ability to change your perspective. So here’s to changing our perspective on the things that seem so bad in our lives and to learning to let things go:

An everyday battle that’s worthy of fighting. xx
