Going on Matcha dates has quickly become a routine with my girl Emily. I never tried Matcha until recently and she swears by it, so I had to see what all the hype was about. I have to admit, I can’t drink it without sugar but with a little sweetener it has quickly become my favorite pick me upper. I don’t drink coffee…ever. I simply don’t like the taste and never wanted to acquire my taste buds as most people do. (Although my 8 year old nephew came out the womb loving coffee!) So Chai lattes were always my go to drink if a friend wanted to grab coffee. Now it’s definitely Matcha. I don’t even need a friend, I ride that coffee shop solo. Or should I say Matcha shop. We found a cute place in Silverlake called MatchaBar, it is a New York based brand that has recently ventured out to LA and we’re there so often now we’ve made “friends” with the managers.
I was talking with my sister about Matcha as she is a new found lover as well and she was telling me how there are many health benefits to drinking Matcha that trump coffee, so I decided to look them up and this is what I found:
1. It’s high in antioxidants, one of them being Catechin which has cancer fighting properties
2. It enhances calm
3. It boost memory and concentration
4. Increases energy levels and endurance
5. Burns Calories
6. Detoxifies the Body
7. Fortifies Immune System
8.Improves Cholesterol
I mean….what is there not to like?!
When i drink Matcha I never feel jittery or on a “high” as some people describe how coffee makes them feel. It makes me feel rejuvenated and ready for the day without crashing at the end of it. I have to say I’ve hopped on the bandwagon and have become a Matcha lover.
Have you tried Matcha? What do you think about the benefits?
