• FAIRMONT CHATEAU LAKE LOUISE + OUTFITS

We had the pleasure of heading to Banff Canada during the holiday season and it was no short of a winter wonderland. You know that beautiful turquoise lake you’ve prob seen all over Instagram. Well we stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise which is literally right on the lake. It was frozen over in the winter and look so much different this time of year but equally breathtaking. Recapping our trip and all the activities we participated in!

“The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise hotel is located in Alberta’s Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is recognized globally for progressive environmental stewardship and responsible tourism.

Originally built as a base for outdoor enthusiasts and alpinists over 100 years ago, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is a year-round luxury mountain resort offering guided mountain tours, world-class skiing in the winter, scenic hiking and canoe activities in the summer, kid’s camp, a luxury spa, and exceptional dining experiences.”

    Brewster Sleigh Ride

A cool little activity they offer on the property is a Sleigh Ride.

You go around the lake and at the end is a gorgeous waterfall. Because of the temperatures it was frozen over which was so breathtaking to see. There was even a man climbing it!

Evening Campfire & Apple Roast M

We got to roast apples which I had no idea what that would entail but it ended up being a really cool experience. Basically you roast the apples over an open fire until they are black on the outside. Then you peel the skin off and dip it in brown sugar and cinnamon and eat them. Honestly it tasted like eating warm apple pie and it was so so good. It’s definitely something I would do again! We all smelled like smoke after but it was totally worth it!

    Walliser Stube Fondue Dinner

That night we had a fondue dinner in the Walliser Stube restaurant and wine bar. It started with cheese fondue. Our table tried the lobster fondue and the truffle fondue. Both were really good and I’m not even a cheese person. For the main course I had the chicken and dessert was comprised of chocolate fondue. The Toblerone fondue was next level.

We started our first full day the next day with breakfast at the Poppy Brasserie before heading to snowshoeing.

    Mountain Adventure Guided Snowshoeing Experience

I had no idea what snowshoeing would entail and wasn’t even sure if I could do it while pregnant but they say if you can walk you can snowshoe! We were guided by an expert instructor who made sure we were all equipped before heading out and made sure I felt comfortable before going out. At first I was a bit nervous because the path was a little steep but once we got over the hump and got our bearings, I felt more comfortable. There was a moment when we were in the middle of the forest that we all went silent and you could hear a pin drop. It was so serene and quiet, and even only for those few minutes it was such an epic feeling. It made me realize how hard it is to find real peace and silence in this world. It was such a different experience for me cause I never do winter activities and I’m glad I got to experience it. But if you’re preggo I wouldn’t recommed it unless you were already an active person before pregnancy.

We were informed that there are bears in the forest but in the winter they are obviously supposed to be hibernating. He also told us that more often than not the bears will avoid human contact. The way he explained it made me feel safe but it was a little scary to think about a bear popping up!

After snowshoeing we had lunch at Lakeview Lounge which had beautiful views of Lake Louise and Victoria Glacier. It was really cool that they had an ice bar on the premises and we were one of the first to experience it this season! We had a little hot chocolate in a bar completely made out of ice!

That night we had a little cocktail hour at the Fairview bar where they had a mixologist create some really unique drinks. They even made me this yummy mocktail that tasted like warm apple cider.

Then we had a delicious dinner at the Fairview Bar and Restaurant and I have to give a big shoutout to the chef and waitress of the night. They were so attentive to our needs and prepared our food exactly as we asked. It was the first time I asked for something well done (I had the lamb) since being pregnant and they made it well done. Very impressed with the food and service.

There’s a whole Winter Activity Guide if you go and are interested in what you can do!

The next day we checked out and headed to another part of Banff, The Fairmont Banff Springs. Recap on that part of our trip next!
